Go For Phenomenal | Taking Advantage of One’s Strengths
By Archer Casio
Think of this quote by Albert Einstein, “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”
Over the course of my studies, I have reached some realizations. Most of them are inflicted by what other people has to say about me. Like, some will say that I’m not really that smart, and that I just excel because I study harder than others. Oftentimes, this really gets my ego wounded. I tend to over-analyze my weaknesses.
I ask myself, “Where am I really good at? “
Can you imagine the amount of insecurity I was dealing with?
Try to put yourself in my shoes, how would you deal with that kind of pressure? Knowing your strengths will help you get rid of this dilemma.
There is absolutely no good thing that will come out if you continue to deal with things you CAN’T change.
As I dealt with my own demons, I realized that there are things I can do to alleviate the problem.
A Change of Perspective
In every cloud, there’s a silver lining, so making the best out of the situation can be beneficial. You might try to think in another way like, “Maybe it isn’t so bad after all”. When you’ve mastered this craft, you would most likely be less frowning.
Focus on the things you’re good at.
Everybody has got to be good at something right? Focus on that and revel at the positive points about yourself. Don’t listen to haters because they will just drag you down. And of course, be with friends who appreciate you for who you really are within.
Make your weakness your strength
Sounds nonsensical at first but once you learn to convert your weakness into strength; you would actually emerge as a better person. Like, if you suck at drawing, why don’t you work on that?
And lastly, accept what you can’t change
There are some things that you cannot undo.
Think of it this way, you wouldn’t be completely “you” without your imperfections, right?
